Jenny Adams comes from a long line of Southern writers on her mother’s side, which is why she would describe writing as something she feels “driven to do” beyond being something she simply “loves to do.” From her three years as an editor at Nightclub & Bar magazine, Jenny has gained a rounded understanding of both sides of the editor/freelancer relationship, and this means that she fully appreciates the necessity of a prompt answer to an e-mailed question, an editor’s frustration over missed deadlines and the importance of a well-sourced story with beautiful art.
At the risk of sounding like a complete writing nerd, she admits to a love of AP Style, exceeding deadlines, traveling to new places for work and play, and the initial stress and excitement of beginning to write an article on a brand new subject.
Her travels thus far have included 43 of the 50 states, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and the Caribbean –– with plane tickets to Tanzania on a very hopeful horizon. However, something about the American South tends to pull ink from her pen more than any other locale, and Jenny recently returned to her roots to soak up stories from the Southern soil and – above all – utilize the phrase “pass the cornbread” more frequently.
